Joni oh Joni

Should one do stuff?
Lately I´ve been confronted with a lot of "shoulds" somehow. As I occationally am active in many areas, for example music, drawing, writing and such, it has always been an issue for me to figure out what I ACTUALLY want to do and perhaps SHOULD do.
Let´s say I´ve made some music. It sometimes happens that people encourage me to make music for commercials or say "you could make some a cappella arrangements of some Michael Jackson songs",
or let´s say I´ve made a good drawing, and people (including myself, sometimes) say; oh, you could be an illustrator,
or I go to the forest and people instantly think one should write an article for let´s say HBL.
And I think it´s good to have opportunities and many possibilities to do a lot of things EVEN if it probably would turn out to be just shit, no doubt, but the question I ask myself is WHY we always should strive for getting seen, getting known or selling your possible talents to OTHER PEOPLE?
If life is about to have fun, I could have a lot of fun with making music for commercials or illustrating, or even do photos (I always forget that I actually went to school to become a photographer). But I don´t want to. Striving for always doing better and better bores me to death and kills the intution and true inspiration.
Lately a guy from Garageband told me about the Spider-song, that "if the right people in New York heard this you'd be a cult figure overnight" and I got flattered for sure, but in a while I asked myself who the f**k "the right people" are, and if I´d really like to become a name among those "right people in NY"?
Wait a minute.
No!

Nä just det.

Facebook and such
Weird how you just stop doing things... like updating this blog.
But hey, I´m alive. It´s just that that stupid thing Facebook is taking a lot of my precious time. Yes, I have to do something about it... I´m getting familiar with the thought of just changing my name and slowly erasing my account, getting rid of the friends and such. I don´t know but somehow Facebook scares me. It´s like it´s acting so friendly and easy-to-use, but in fact it could be evil. Imgine the networks that could be built like beneath it all... wohooo. Maybe I´m a little paranoid. I just think that it´s hard for a successful business to be honest and friendly.

Mest arg hela tiden

Working is for people who have nothing better to do
--Oscar Wilde
£1 I think the border between "outside" an "inside" should be more diffuse. I could live with sand on my floor. I think sofas on the street is beautiful.
£2 When I listen to most people, I hear the words but I can´t put them together and form an understandable sentence. That´s because most people are so full of shit.
£3 I have started to enjoy being unhealthy which concerns me slightly, cause when you´re approaching 30 unhealthy life leaves tracks, but who cares anyway.
£4 Sometimes I giggle at my own jokes for minutes.
£5 People that use a lot of spiral-shapes in their drawings are self-centered as hell and I did spirals before I could talk.
£6 I am bleeding from my heel right now. What a weird place to bleed from. I didn´t even notice I scratched myself that hard.
£7 My favourite complaint-subject for now is the working hours and the whole concept of working. That´s because I have a job.
£8 If I ever went to a job-terapeut I would tell him I want to become a job-terapeut
£9 I sometimes am on the verge of puking when I smell the breath of children
£10 There isn´t really any taste or consistence that I don´t like when it comes to food.
£11 I see through my false insights about life faster than I produce them
£12 Today´s world is really funny. Hahhahhahahahhaha.
£13 I made my grandma cry when I was 1,5 years old and sang "Vagga gunga gå gå". I write "1,5 years old" because in that age half a year still matters. Hell I wish I was 99,5 years old.
£14 I like saying "Je ne regrette rien" and I can act like I really live up to it. In fact there is a truckload of things I regret.
£15 I think the coolest things you can do are uncool things, what ever uncool and cool things are.
£16 It´s funny to see what all life has to offer. Hey, there comes a depression!
£17 I wish I could talk more
£18 I wonder if people hear music differently. I wish I could move into a head that likes the music of Scooter for a day just to see what it would feel like
£19 I´ve spent a night under a circus-wagon. I wanted to ask the circus people if there was a possibility to sleep over at someone´s place (cause circus-people are COOL), but ended up not daring. That story could illustrate my whole life.
£20 When someone´s critisizing what I´ve done it feels like I´ve puked on a plate and someone´s saying YOU HAVE EATEN SHIT, I KNEW IT YOU NASTY BITCH!!
£21 I was much more creative when I didn´t know what the word creative meant
£22 Admitting your weaknesses is the first step towards getting stronger, to hell with that, I knew my weaknesses when I was 12 and nothing has changed.
£23 I stopped trying to be a good person when I realised I wish most people the worst.
£24 Finding out new ways to say things is orgasmic
£25 The thought of a world without words and with communication through paper-blocks turns me on, but in reality, that´s just stupid.

I love work

"One of the saddest things is that the only thing that a man can do for eight hours a day, day after day, is work. You can't eat eight hours a day nor drink for eight hours a day nor make love for eight hours—all you can do for eight hours is work. Which is the reason why man makes himself and everybody else so miserable and unhappy."
—William Faulkner, interview in Writers at Work, 1958

Nine down
I did this while waiting for the blind to do their fysio-therapy. An older woman saw my drawing and asked me if I do it for my job and I said no, I just do some pics and logos for bands once in a while (that's a lie). Then she told me her husband has a band "Backstage Boys" and that they play swing and stuff. I nodded and smiled. Meanwhile some guy shot nine people dead in Kauhajoki.

Slavoj Žižek!
"In order to understand today´s world
we need cinema, literally.
It is only in cinema that we get that crucial dimension
which we are not yet ready to confront in our reality.
If you are looking for what is more real than reality itself,
look into the cinematic fiction."

"Think about the strangeness of today's situation. Thirty, forty years ago, we were still debating about what the future will be: communist, fascist, capitalist, whatever. Today, nobody even debates these issues. We all silently accept global capitalism is here to stay. On the other hand, we are obsessed with cosmic catastrophes: the whole life on earth disintegrating, because of some virus, because of an asteroid hitting the earth, and so on. So the paradox is, that it's much easier to imagine the end of all life on earth than a much more modest radical change in capitalism."

"Beware, cigarette coming up"

For the first time in my life I´ve got a job with no end. That means I don´t know when I´m going to quit, or even IF I´m going to quit, but that´s for another day to decide.
Anyway, I work as an assistant for blind people in a school. One of the tasks is to walk a 10 year-old girl to another school where she has religion-classes.
Walking with her to that school was one of the most exciting experiences I´ve had in a while. She noticed every tram that went by, she asked about unfamiliar sounds, she smelled a cigarette that someone was smoking on a balcony, and when smoking people was walking towards us, I said "Beware, cigarette coming up" and we laughed.
She told me about another girl that she knows and that "she smells like chocolate." She told one teacher has changed perfume...
It´s a new world, even for me. I couldn´t be happier to have gotten this job right now.

I never dared to believe in my dreams, because I´m shit-scared of failures and ending up in the hell of the unfulfilled dreams.
This fact makes me the biggest loser I´ve ever known. Therefore I sit here between worlds in my pyjamas.

Jag blev ju aldrig fotograf, men visst satan tar jag snygga bilder.

Vallila

So, I have moved to Vallila, a part of Helsinki. Vallila is perfect for someone like me, surrounded by secondhand-shops and people that look miserable just like me. Vallila is the place where you can go to the supermarket in your pyjamas and no-one raises a brow. Vallila is just the place where you can hide behind curtains and do what ever you like, and it won´t be called wrong. I like this place.

Same text translated through InterTran:
"I will nots have children. If self sheep one baby do self another mans. Self requires inga multi folk. Especially nots baby."

Random pictures from the last few weeks

Went to Utila, got a room for free, including a semi-crazy doctor who gave this sign to Tom to walk around with.

Utila was all about dancing with random people in the streets. Even if just for a few seconds.

There is a certain charm with those local buses. Sometimes everything is so right its almost scary. The light, the sun, the people and the music from the radio. You want to stop time and keep that moment as a souvenir close to your heart forever.

There is a reason why Central America is Central America and Europe is just Europe.

After coming back to Casa Guatemala I looked into an old suitcase in our house and found 6 rat babies. Cute.

And of course - it pisses me off.
I am back in Rio Dulce after a short trip to Utila, Honduras.
Utila is a beautiful island, you go there with a boat, Utila Princess bounching through the waves for more than 1 hour, making all tourists puke and feel shit because we dont understand we have to keep an eye on the horizon.
Utila is also all about diving. The island is swarming with dive-centers and cool diving-people, but I didnt take the time to do a course. I was fine with snorkling, which I think is a further less complicated version of getting under the surface, and still youre having almost the same experience. When people put on wet-dresses and start fumbling with their complicated meters and whatnot that belong to the diving-business, I want to put on my non-existant heavymetal suit, groam, play Slayer, puke all over and scream undefined bad words.
Then we went to the biggest techno what ever music festival in the Caribbean (thats what they say) Sunjam 08. Its like a smaller version of the Thai fullmoon-parties and I wanted to go just to know what its all about.
Sunjam its just one of these parties that acts like its on MTV, with halfnaked girls, bikinies, expensive T-shirts and neverending bad techno music. The only difference between Sunjam and MTV is that you cant turn off Sunjam. Youre trapped in a stupid beach-show and have to act the same as everybody else, have to dance, have to say "this is aaawsome, just fantastic, I am sooo happy..." and of course - it pisses me off.
IT PISSES ME OFF that there are festivals like this, that are made only for tourists, which are not even aware of what they are doing. The entrance for Sunjam is 40$ which clearly puts the frames on it - real working Honduran people are not welcome. Only rich bastards with a fortune can afford 40$ for a night out, and all the tourists are rich bastards.
I feel ashamed that I go to Honduras to attend a festival that the majority of the Honduran population never will experience.
At least, I can say I survived Sunjam.
Photos coming up soon.

Human thoughts
People are leaving and people are arriving here at Casa Guatemala. I am in a weird mood, feeling more alien than ever, actually struggling to be human, to talk and do all those things that humans like to do, like going to Sunjam in Honduras tomorrow.
I just hope I can make it without exploding or being too weird and putting people off or scaring people or what ever. But I feel the BIG CRAZINESS coming up. Theres nothing to do about it.
